
Healthy Turtle: What’s the most exciting place you’ve ever visited?
Erika Mabry: I’ve traveled many places but the most exciting is Disney World. It’s one of those places that will bring out the child in everyone. I’ve gone numerous times alone and with my son and each time has been memorable and exciting.
HT: Where would you like to retire?
EM: Florida, preferably Ft. Lauderdale or Coconut Grove
HT: What food couldn’t you live without?
EM: Bread!!
HT: What else couldn’t you live without?
EM: A goal in life…something important to me that makes life fulfilling and my day-to-day routine a pleasure.
HT: What’s your favorite color?
EM: Black, although I’m venturing out and trying more colors!
HT: Are you a city person or a rural person?
EM: City person. I was born and raised in Washington, DC.
HT: Are you a cat person or a dog person?
EM: Dog. I have a dog named Deejay.
HT: What’s one thing you don’t think anyone here at SPH knows about you?
EM: On the weekends you are likely to find me, in the stands cheering, in sweatpants and a t-shirt at one of my son’s local sporting events.
HT: What do you like most about working here at SPH?
EM: Aside from wonderful/friendly colleagues, I love the mission of the Herschel S. Horowitz Center for Health Literacy. Improving health literacy is crucial to improving health care. I am honored to be a part of this mission.
HT: What’ your favorite movie?
EM: The Blind Side. Great storyline on so many levels.
HT: What are some of the most played bands/singers/songs on your I-pod?
EM: Christina Agulara, Mary J. Blige, Luther Vandross, and Robin Thicke. Beyonce and Rihanna are great for working out.
HT: Where are/did you going/go for spring break?
EM: Columbus, Ohio to visit family and friends.
HT: What is your proudest accomplishment?
EM: Raising, as a single parent, a wonderful son who does well academically and loves sports.
HT: What’s your favorite restaurant?
EM: The Melting Pot
HT: Name something you’re good at.
EM: Managing programs and projects!
HT: What’s your favorite book?
EM: The Bible ☺
HT: Where do you get your daily news?
EM: Morning news shows while getting ready for work
HT: What’s your favorite thing to do for exercise?
EM: Spin Class!!! I love it. I try to go at least three days a week.
HT: What former jobs have you had?
EM: I’ve worked at USAToday and Head Start in Program Management. My very first job was in retail, Accessory Place, while I was in High School.
