Randolph, an offensive tackle, is a graduate student in the department of public and community health pursuing his certificate in public health informatics. Williams, who plays center, is a graduate student in the kinesiology department, and earned these honors for the second straight year.
To be eligible for consideration for Academic All-ACC honors, a player must have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during his academic career.
Dr. Elizabeth Brown, an instructor in the department of kinesiology, taught Williams in her upper level kinesiology class and advised him on his graduate independent study project. From the very beginning, she was impressed by his leadership abilities and eagerness to be proactive in class.
"One of E's qualities is that he is the real deal. He is the type of person you would like to be around," Dr. Brown said. "He is articulate, extremely polished and just a kind young man. After being around him, you know he is of the utmost character."
In all, the University of Maryland placed eight players on the Academic All-ACC team, more than any other school in the conference.
Congratulations to both!
