PCH Internship Poster Session

As a part of their degree program, Public and Community Health undergraduate students are required to complete a Community Health Internship. This internship takes place the last semester before the student graduates after all other academic requirements have been completed.

On Wednesday, Oct. 6, the PCH internship students had the opportunity to share information about their job responsibilities with the rest of the SPH at their internship poster session. The event is also a way for students looking for internships next semester to get an idea of where they would like to intern.

Katherine Park, who is completing her internship at the American Kidney Fund, said, "I get to incorporate a lot of the health education skills I learned in my classes in my work." Parks is currently working on a children's brochure as a part of her work at the Fund, and says her work has actually sparked her interest in health education.

Samantha Draper, who is interning at the USDA Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion, first found out about her internship at the poster session last semester."I thought it was very informative," she said. "You get a feel of what you might be doing." Draper, who has always wanted to work with the government, said she thinks her internship is a good mix of what she has learned in her classes and her interest in the government.

The poster session took place in the SPH building atrium where students were able to showcase nearly 40 posters from different internships around the area.
