If you're looking for a new allergy combatant or treatment for healing and protecting wounds, you'll have to check out NPR's Morning Edition from today. Reporter Allison Aubrey took a look at two theories about the healing power of honey.
Theory One: Bees carry pollen from various plants, which is used to make honey. "If I were to eat this honey, it could expose me bit by bit to the plants I'm allergic to," Aubrey said, "and incrementally build up my tolerance."
Theory Two: Honey helps to heal wounds, the key player being the sugar in the honey.
But is the Golden Goo really capable of beating allergies? Should you bother pouring it on a scratch or burn? You'll have to watch the video below to find out. You'll also get a sweet cooking tip that eliminates sugar from a blueberry muffin recipe by replacing it with - you guessed it - honey.
If you make the recipe or try using honey to heal your wounds, let The Healthy Turtle know how it goes by commenting below!
