I finally had a moment today to sit down with the Spring semester's SPH newsletter. First, kudos to Gloria for putting together a fantastic publication once again!
I found Dr. Deborah Young's blurb about her informal research of weather and suicide correlations to be fascinating. She ventured into a Google search to identify epidemiological and biostatistical research strategies for understanding the impact of extreme weather conditions on people's health and wellbeing. What she found was surprising, and you should definitely check it out.
In the "From the Units" section, you'll also catch an interview with Dr. Robin Sawyer, professor of human sexuality with Public and Community Health (and learn a common misconception about oral sex), as well the top 10 reasons to study Kinesiology, as identified by Dr. Jane Clark, based on recent senior exit interviews. Further, learn what's new with the Family Science, Environmental Health and Health Services Administration units. Read about all this and more in the Spring newsletter, found here at the bottom of the page.
Thanks for the shout out. Hope you are having a chance to enjoy the summer.
